A wind-twisted tree clings to a rocky overlook at sunrise, a fog-filled valley spread out below and catching the first pink light. The scene belongs to the Appalachian highlands of Virginia, where cool night air settles into the hollows and condenses into the valley fog that burns off through the morning. Trees on exposed ridgelines grow gnarled and stunted — a form botanists call krummholz, shaped by relentless wind and thin soil. The photograph times the shot to the few minutes when the sun clears the far ridge and rakes color across the cloud layer below — a classic American mountain landscape, caught at the day's first light.

Production 1–4 business days; delivery roughly 3–6 days in the US, UK & EU and 5–10 days rest of world, tracked. EU orders are produced within the EU, so no import duties apply.
Returns — Arrives damaged, defective, or not what you ordered? Email ingo@elfering.com within 30 days with photos and we'll send a free replacement — or a full refund if we can't replace it. Because every piece is made to order, we don't accept change-of-mind returns.
