The Vessel at Blue Hour - Hudson Yards Architecture NYC

Sale price$39.00
Material:
Size:

Thomas Heatherwick's honeycomb staircase glows copper against a deepening blue-hour sky over Hudson Yards, the Vessel's interior latticework caught at the exact moment artificial light overtakes natural. A single figure in pink anchors the lower frame, providing the only honest sense of scale for a structure that is otherwise impossible to read — 154 interconnecting flights, 2,500 individual steps, sixteen stories of polished bronze folding in on itself like an Escher drawing rendered in steel. The Vessel closed to climbing in 2021 and remains controversial as both architecture and public art, but from the outside, at twilight, it is still one of the most photogenic objects in Manhattan.
