A still expanse of pale water meets an almost invisible horizon under a soft mauve-grey sky, with a low fringe of marsh grass and mudflat in the foreground and a hairline of distant shore drawn straight across the middle. The palette is reduced to muted blues and ochres, the water so calm it mirrors the cloud. Tidal flats like this sit at the margin between land and sea, flooding and draining with each tide.
