A line of neon text, “Space here becomes time”, hangs beneath the painted ironwork and glazed roof of Leadenhall Market in the City of London, above a single glowing lantern. A market has traded on this site since the fourteenth century; the present arcade, with its cream-and-maroon cast iron and arched glass roof, was designed by Sir Horace Jones and completed in 1881. The lantern, the ironwork and the sentence line up on the central axis of the hall. A Victorian roof and a sentence that says what the photograph is about.
