A peacock turns its head toward the camera, the iridescent blue of its neck plumage filling the frame. The colour is structural rather than pigmented — microscopic barbule lattices in each feather scatter light to produce the metallic blue and green that no dye can replicate. Pavo cristatus is native to the Indian subcontinent and has been kept in temple gardens, royal courts, and country estates for over two thousand years, where its tail has been read variously as a symbol of immortality, vanity, and watchfulness. Photographed at close range with shallow depth of field to isolate the head against a clean background. A portrait — of an animal that evolved to be looked at.

Production 1–4 business days; delivery roughly 3–6 days in the US, UK & EU and 5–10 days rest of world, tracked. EU orders are produced within the EU, so no import duties apply.
Returns — Arrives damaged, defective, or not what you ordered? Email ingo@elfering.com within 30 days with photos and we'll send a free replacement — or a full refund if we can't replace it. Because every piece is made to order, we don't accept change-of-mind returns.
