A patch of bright green moss anchors a scatter of yellow autumn leaves on the forest floor. Moss is among the oldest groups of land plants on Earth, with no roots and no flowers — it draws water directly through its leaves and thrives in the damp shade of the understory, holding its color long after the canopy above has turned and dropped. The fallen leaves will break down over the coming year, returning their nutrients to the soil the moss sits on. The photograph works close and looks straight down, finding a composition in the litter most walkers step over — the forest at its smallest scale.

Shipping — Each print is produced on demand at the partner lab nearest you (US, UK, mainland Europe, and 10+ countries), so it travels the shortest distance. Production 1–4 business days; delivery roughly 3–6 days in the US, UK & EU and 5–10 days rest of world, tracked. EU orders are produced within the EU, so no import duties apply.
Returns — Arrives damaged, defective, or not what you ordered? Email ingo@elfering.com within 30 days with photos and we'll send a free replacement — or a full refund if we can't replace it. Because every piece is made to order, we don't accept change-of-mind returns.
