Louvre Pyramid Interior - Paris Monochrome Architecture Photography

Photographed from within, I. M. Pei's glass pyramid becomes a study in pure structure — the network of steel struts and tensioned cables fanning out beneath the glazed faces toward the apex. Completed in 1989 as the Louvre's new main entrance, the pyramid hides much of its engineering in plain sight: a lightweight web that holds 673 panes of glass with as little metal as possible. Stripped of color, the image reduces the scene to line and tone, the diagonals of the rigging crossing the bright triangles of sky above. The black-and-white treatment turns the entrance hall into geometry. A photograph of a famous landmark seen from the inside out.
