Lioness in Grass - Monochrome Wildlife Photography Print

A lioness watches the camera at eye level from a screen of tall grass, ears forward, gaze fixed and steady. Adult lionesses (Panthera leo) do most of the hunting in a pride and operate cooperatively, often working in coordinated flanks to drive prey toward another animal in waiting; the long, level stare is part of the same equipment that makes them effective in the open. The black-and-white treatment removes the gold of the savanna so the eyes and the line of the brow read first, with grass softened to texture behind. A portrait of attention - held by the cat, not given by the photographer. Earns its place in a living room, an entrance hall, or a stairwell.
