The Hall of Mirrors runs the length of the frame at Versailles, its seventeen mirror-clad arches facing tall windows, crystal chandeliers and gilded candelabra marching toward a distant vanishing point above a parquet floor. Built between 1678 and 1684 under Louis XIV, the 73-metre gallery lined its garden wall with 357 mirrors - then a staggering display of wealth - and later hosted the signing of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919. Gold, glass, and painted ceiling, stretched to the horizon. The grandest room of the Ancien Régime. Reads well in a living room, study, or hotel-style bedroom.
