Hundreds of bare incandescent bulbs hang glowing at canopy height through a darkening forest, suspended among the trunks as an outdoor art installation. The location is Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania, a former du Pont estate that regularly threads large-scale light works through its woodland after dark. The warm, low-wattage filaments read as a constellation brought down to head height — each bulb a small fixed point, the spacing irregular enough to feel organic rather than strung. Photographed at dusk, the exposure balances the amber of the bulbs against the deep blue of the failing sky, the two color temperatures holding each other in tension. The photograph captures the forest turned lantern.
