The crown of the Empire State Building blazes in red, amber, and green against the deep blue of a Manhattan twilight, its Art Deco setbacks transformed into bands of pure color. A thin veil of cloud drifts past the spire, softening the edges and giving the tower an almost otherworldly glow. Shot from below, the upward perspective emphasizes the building's monumental presence as it punches through the evening sky. Since 2012, the LED system has allowed the iconic tower to paint itself in millions of color combinations but the magic remains the same as it was in 1931: a skyscraper that becomes a lighthouse for the entire city after dark.
