The "Flying B" mascot of a Bentley catches showroom light in fine-art black and white — a winged letter B cast in chrome and set at the leading edge of the bonnet. Bentley Motors was founded in 1919 by W.O. Bentley, an engineer who made his name building rotary aero engines during the First World War before turning to fast road cars. The winged emblem dates from the marque's early decades and still marks its cars today, now as a retractable ornament. Monochrome reads the figure as pure geometry, tracing the sweep of the wing and the soft bloom of reflected light along the metal. A century of engineering, in one small sculpture.
