An early wall-mounted telephone hangs against a plain pale wall, photographed in black and white: a carved wooden back-box topped by a polished brass bell, a central push button, and a heavy receiver suspended on its cord below. Instruments like this date to the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, when the telephone was furniture — oak cabinetry, exposed bells, and hand-cranked magnetos mounted at standing height. Stripped of colour, the picture becomes a study of form: circle, rectangle, and the long vertical drop of the handset. One machine, carefully isolated.

Returns — Arrives damaged, defective, or not what you ordered? Email ingo@elfering.com within 30 days with photos and we'll send a free replacement — or a full refund if we can't replace it. Because every piece is made to order, we don't accept change-of-mind returns.
